Bunny and Owl Letterpress Art Prints
Our collaboration with Shop Toast is creating wonderful things. Honey Bunnies and Hootie Cuties are the first two of four in the Woodland Creatures collection. Shop Toast and Joie Studio have wonderful things in the works, including the next two woodland creatures, one in queue here at Joie Studio, one still being incubated at Shop Toast. The two letterpress art prints are available in Joie Studio's Etsy shop, from Shop Toast, and of course at Joie Studio's booth at J-Pop Summit this weekend and at the Los Angeles Printer's Fair next weekend.

In the islands, we do it island style...
This design has been a long time coming, but it's finally available in Joie Studio's Etsy shop! It's no secret I'm from Honolulu...and here I am with yet another homage to my home state. I gave a sneek peak of this design in June, and I've finally gotten around to scoring them, folding them, and packing them into nice sets. Love the embossed effect on the hibiscus because of the debossing of the background stripe and then floral design - the leftover unprinted paper around the flower looks raised in comparison.
I also printed 'mahalo' in orange and aqua. It was originally meant to have another color scheme entirely, but I really really love the mandarin orange / aqua blue color combination, so I thought I'd go with that instead.
Mahalo for looking and I hope you enjoyed!

Meet the Gang!
Meet the Cheeky Faces, Joie Studio's newest collaboration with my friends at Shop Toast. Say hello to...
Yum Yum
Squeals
Rosy Cheeks
Bright Eyes
Sorry
A hallmark feature of this collection, besides the three color nature of the design collection, is the blind impression of the background pattern in the back, which gives the cards a quilted appearance. Love it. All of the cards are up in Joie Studio's Etsy shop, and the cheery faces are available in a set of 4. Enjoy!

Hello Honey Bunny!
Poor Honey Bunny has been sitting around, unboxed at the bottom of one of my moving boxes (yes, the studio is still not quite 100% unpacked). So I took pity on him and boxed him up! He is the first of Joie Studio's second collaboration with our friends at SHOP TOAST. This design is letterpress flat stationery (A2 in size) printed in 4 (yes, four!) handcrafted ink colors. My friends at SHOP TOAST like to make me work hard at their designs.
Honey Bunny is available in Joie Studio's Etsy shop!

Hina Matsuri Letterpress Card
Okay, so I will have to admit that it has taken me FOREVER to actually take product photos of this card. And it's really funny, too, because I meant for this card to be sold in January or February for Girl's Day (in Hawaii) or Hina Matsuri (in Japan) on March 3rd, so I printed them two Februarys ago but didn't finish them in time for Girl's Day. And I sold out of the ones I had packaged at Unique LA Holiday and never got around to scoring and packing the rest of the cards that I had printed. But *whew* finally! Here they are, my three Japanese dolls letterpress printed in three gorgeous colors.
As an aside, this was one of my first forays in photopolymer using a homemade aluminum base that my cousin helped mill. And it's one of the first projects that I did on the Vandercook 4 after attaining it.
It's listed in the Etsy shop! Enjoy!

Quails of a Feather...
Introducing the Quails of a Feather!
This is the marquee card of the collection -- "One of a Kind." I printed this card maybe a year (or over a year ago) and never got around to printing the message inside. Life (or JoieBaby), I guess, got the best of me. But I carved out some time a couple weeks ago to finish the card after Shino from Fugu Fugu Press helped me score all my A2s lying around here. Thank goodness for friends! Some of you who have seen the Momma Quail Mother's Day card at craft shows have already been introduced to the collection, but I love my little quirky quail!
I really love the design. It reminds me to celebrate uniqueness. And I can't help but smile whenever I see this quail letterpress printed on bright white 100% recycled paper. It's a gorgeous bright white stock.
I don't generally do inside messages, but since I wanted to flood the card with quails, the message went inside in the same orange as the one of a kind quail in front:
Here is a closeup of One-of-a-Kind Quail:
I just love how the eyes pop and show the impression. And of course, in the back is Joie Studio's logo:
I've listed this card on Etsy. I think I only printed like 50 of them for the first run (I was pregnant, I was tired, I probably had to pee). Get them while they last!

Oh, design bloggers, why do you do this to me?
Okay, I've been trying really hard not to spend money. The economy's down. I just had a baby that will one day need to be educated. We just bought a house that needs renovating. And then I noticed Poppytalk's posting on letters. And then I saw decor8's Etsy Take Five Tuesday featuring William Dohman's gorgeous wood signs - like this one from his Etsy shop:

I covet! Oh, do I covet! Besides the fact that I will probably drop some amount of cash on some wood signs that I don't really need, I am in love with the color composition in the picture above. The blue on the grey is simply gorgeous.

New Thank You Letterpress Card!
I have to admit, I absolutely adore this Sakura Matsuri design and the way it prints. Here it is, letterpress printed in three delicious colors and paired with your choice of envelopes (I personally love the sage envelopes with the card). It's available on Joie Studio's Etsy shop already, and it'll be available in Joie Studio's Shop by the end fo the week.

Pinks & Reds
Tis the season for pinks and reds! I'm participating in Poppytalk Handmade this month, and I thought I would share some new items I have been printing.
This card has been sitting around waiting to be finished for MONTHS, but the right color of pink never went on the press. Finally:
Then, people who were lucky enough to buy my 2008 calendar may recognize this flower:
And what's the Valentine season without a love card?
All are available in my Etsy shop! Enjoy!

My Growing Menagerie
To start with, I had printed a bunch of goldfish cards. I wasn't intending on redoing the cards, but I sold out, and due to popular demand, I decided to print more. This time, I printed them on Crane's Lettra, so they are a lot more luscious that they were before. Here they are:

I've also been meaning to print my peacock illustration for a long long time. Here are the peacock cards, which I think came out beautifully. Such a large detailed illustration is a bitch to print, since on a platen, the edges tend to print more clearly than the middle. But here it is:

I love the back detail, too, that some of the peacock feathers make it to the backside:

Both these cards are available in my Etsy shop!

In celebration, I've listed the "Warm Wishes" card in my Etsy shop. I'm selling them in sets of 5 for $12. There's only a couple sets left of this run! Give me an excuse to do another run of these beautiful cards!

Holiday Letterpress Card Listed on Etsy!

So thanks to the great feedback I received on my first letterpress holiday card, I decided to go ahead and list them as is on Etsy! I paired the cards with sage envelopes and packaged them in sets of 4. These cards are priced at $8 for 1 set of 4 cards and envelopes, $15 for two sets (8 cards and envelopes), and $20 for 3 sets (12 cards and envelopes). Applicable taxes and shipping not included.
You can also email me (joiestudio[at]gmail.com) with your name, email address, shipping address, and how many sets you would like, and I can send you an invoice.
The Zen letterpress cards are in queue to be sold on Etsy as well -- I'm waiting for the envelopes to come in.
(You can also buy these cards at my upcoming craft fair outing at Handmade for the Holidays November 23rd and November 24th.)
