Sneak Peek: 2013 Calendar on Press

 Joie Studio's first ever split fountain!!!

So we were printing our 2013 letterpress desk calendar and I thought the chevron pattern would look great as a split fountain.  I had fluorescent orange on the press and decided add hot pink.  I worked fast and got the whole run in with this split fountain, which I'm really happy about.  The result on the press rather reminds me of a tequila sunrise...ah delicious!  I love it so much I'm probably going to do a split fountain for two different greeting cards.  Anyhow, here's a little sneak peek of our "Bright 2013" calendar!  It'll be ready in time for the LA Printer's Fair!

2011 Letterpress Desk Calendars!

Joie Studio's 2011 letterpress desk calendar was inspired in large part by my current obsession with traditional Chinese and Japanese design motifs and my fond memories of my travels through Japan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. I thought that the very beautiful, very luxe, very eco-friendly bamboo paper would be a perfect complement to the design. It came out beautifully. Here are the months:

These are available in my Etsy shop and they are in limited quantities. My birthday is Wednesday, so I believe I will have a sale to celebrate my birthday, Thanksgiving, and the start of the holiday season!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Joie Studio's 2009 Letterpress Desk Calendar is featured in the Home section of the Los Angeles Times today! It was very very exciting to go and get the paper from my doorstep this morning and open it up and see my very own creation staring back at me!

I'm still busy taking pictures of all the different months, but I wanted to share with you some of the different months. The months are all printed in a beautiful metallic bronze color and each month features a different vintage floral illustration.

The calendar is packaged in a plastic calendar case that doubles as a desk stand:

So Done! A Progress Report...

So this past Tuesday and Wednesday, I worked exclusively on the 2008 letterpress calendar. The printing is so so done on January - December! Yay! So now it's just a matter of packaging them up and taking pictures for the world to see. I'm debating when to make them available on Etsy. I have two craft fairs coming up, and I've been toying around with how many I should keep for the craft fairs and how many I should make available online. Decisions decisions...

What else is done in the studio and just needs to be packaged? More holiday cards!

2008 Letterpress Calendar Peek

Yesterday and today, I started on my 2008 Blooming Joie letterpress desk calendar. I'm planning a limited run of 150 calendars of this particular design, so it's quite a bit number of sheets I have to print. Each of the months will have an antique floral illustration in one color and the month printed in another. In the coming days, there will be pink, orange, yellow, lavender, and purple! I'm so excited because I've been planning on making a calendar since March, and now all my planning is coming to fruition! Here are pictures of the first run of three of the months:
