Ikea-ed out...

I was at Ikea in Burbank when I spied with my little eyes the cutest child safety item:
Joie Baby has just started really walking around on his own, and table corners never seemed so dangerous. These Ikea corner bumpers were so so awesomely cool, I bought a package for the coffee table at home. They adhere like this and are totally adorable:
So then after I brought them home and put them on my coffee table, Joie Baby came dangerously close to bumping his head on the dining room table's corner. So I figured we liked them so much I should just get a couple more packages. I was in the neighborhood and decided to go to the Ikea in Covina to get some more of these corner bumpers and searched the whole freakin' Ikea for them and they were not there. So I guess I have to go back to Burbank (argh!) to get them because now my heart is set on them. Joie Baby loves the meatballs, but man am I Ikea-ed out.

Covetous Cups...

So I'm minding my own business, taking Joie Baby out for some Pinkberry (yes, my 1 year old baby loves Pinkberry--he learned at Pinkberry how to use a spoon just to facilitate shoveling more yogurt into his mouth), when all of a sudden we're in Anthropologie and I'm staring that this very lovely display of monogram mugs. I'm very in love with open face fonts, and there is something very elegant yet down home and charming about these mugs. And it made an impact with just black on white. Beautiful. I want. But it's expensive to keep up with my baby's Pinkberry habit, so I left with only a picture. No mug. Sigh.

Thank You William Dohman!

Remember when I blogged about William Dohman's awesome recycled wood signs? After a bit of back and forth emailing, William made me these gorgeous sign for Joie Studio, complete with custom color. I LOVE how it came out:

That's the 'hello' William has for sale, and I asked him to make Joie Baby's name to match. I absolutely love the result. I am so so pleased with the result that I will probably give him more of my hard earned cash in the future for more of his awesome work.

Some Type for Your Shelf...

Letters are in right now! I went to Restoration Hardware looking for house numbers (actually I wanted to see what the house numbers from the catalog looked like), only to be told that they don't sell the house numbers in store anymore (really?), and where the house numbers used to be was a display of gorgeous literary accents. I'm not so hot up on the books without covers business in the pic above, but those cast letters and symbols are beautiful. I really wanted the "@" symbol, but mostly because in the type collection that I have there is no "@" symbol.

Oh, design bloggers, why do you do this to me?

Okay, I've been trying really hard not to spend money. The economy's down. I just had a baby that will one day need to be educated. We just bought a house that needs renovating. And then I noticed Poppytalk's posting on letters. And then I saw decor8's Etsy Take Five Tuesday featuring William Dohman's gorgeous wood signs - like this one from his Etsy shop:

I covet! Oh, do I covet! Besides the fact that I will probably drop some amount of cash on some wood signs that I don't really need, I am in love with the color composition in the picture above. The blue on the grey is simply gorgeous.

I Covet...

This is definitely a non-letterpress post. I was clearing out my email when I noticed one from Bed Bath and Beyond with a gorgeous set table and immediately thought, "I want it":

It's Lenox Simply Fine Chirp collection, which is just beautiful. I only wish it wasn't fine china, with fine china prices. Here's a place setting:

It's such a great design composition. It's very rare that fine china moves me, but heck, maybe I'm just being all hormonal and pregnant, maybe it's a great balance of colors and vintage design.
